Instrumentation: Female Singer, Piano
We Met on the Internet is a comedy song about a woman's online love
affairs (and her impatience when her modem almost makes her late for an
online date!), and the reasons she prefers love online to love the
old-fashioned way.
The song is written for a soprano but can be transposed
for a lower female voice upon request. Written in a cabaret style, it is
available two ways: as a novelty song (the composer thinks of it as a
musical monologue), which allows for some comedic acting as well as singing,
and as a jazz chart, with the opening and middle sections altered to allow
time for solos.
