(Composer, Lyricist, Librettist)
Robin Hood is a musical in progress. Although the
show will have much action and some comedy, the central goal
in writing this show is to explore the characters and the
motivations for their actions, especially those of Robin,
Marian, and the Sheriff of Nottingham. The musical also will
pay tribute to the pageants and other (oral) traditions
through which the legends of the English outlaw and archer
have been told throughout the centuries.
Musically, the score will be a mixture of popera and Old
English folk idioms, with some traditional Broadway and
operetta sounds thrown in for good measure. There will be
spoken dialogue, but the ratio of sung material over dialogue
will be about 3-1.
Robin Hood will be a full-length musical in two acts. Songs include Before Too Long, Outlaws, and The Greenwood Oath.
